Finding the Right Sofa
Do you have a large family and need a large sofa for social occasions? Do friends and relatives often come and stay over and a sofa bed would be really useful? How big is the room the sofa is going in? Will you be able to move around the sofa freely? These are just some of the questions which you need to ask yourself when you are buying a new sofa. The very first thing which you should do is to measure the space where the sofa is to go and also the route that you will take to get the sofa in the property.
When buying a sofa a good rule of thumb is to go for the largest sofa you can fit into the available space without compromising the aesthetics of a room. If you have a large family or like entertaining then a corner sofa is a great option as they allow a large amount of people to sit down at once. A corner sofa is also a great option if you like to spread out.
The shape of the sofa is also very important. Low back sofas are currently in vogue as they are very stylish and can help to make a room with low ceilings look more spacious however they offer little in the way of back support. Sofas with a higher back offer more in the way of support but can make the room look more crowded. Corner sofas are a great option if the shape of the room is awkward as often they can be adapted to fit the shape of the room.
Often people overlook the filling of the sofa. However the filling of a sofa is very important and can make a big difference to the overall look and comfort of a sofa. There are basically two different fillings to choose from foam filled or feather filled. Foam filled sofas usually feel and look firm and will bounce back after being sat on. Whereas feather sofas have a softer more casual look and feel. However, it is important to be aware that feather filled sofas will need to be plumped and a daily basis to keep them looking at their best.
Many peoples favourite part of buying a new sofa is choosing what material it is made out of. The first choice is fabric or leather sofas. If you opt of a fabric sofa there are literally thousands of patterns, weaves and colours to choose from. However, if you do choose a patterned sofa you should choose carefully as they can easily date. Leather sofas are currently very popular. Once only afforded by the very wealthy leather sofas are now very affordable and are a great option as they are both hard wearing and low maintenance. Hence leather sofas a great option if you have children or pets.

A lot of people find buying a new sofa a stressful experience however this does not have to be the case. By taking your time to weigh up your options and doing your research the whole process will be far more enjoyable and you will end up with a sofa that you love for many years to come.
